Grand Rapids is a strong and vibrant community. A perfect place for the experiment Google has launched to test a concept of providing fiber for ultra high-speed broadband networks to a small number of trial locations across the United States. Grand Rapids should be one of those trial locations! The speeds delivered will be more than 100 times faster than what most of us are normally used to. Basically, Google is looking to experiment with bringing 1 GB speed to the home through fiber. It's the high speed rail of the Internet. The possibilities and opportunities this would provide our community are endless, but here are some examples of what we might be able to achieve:
